When visitors leave comments on this site, we receive the data they provide in the comments form.
We never sell or share any of your personal data that might display behind the scenes.
This site is about art. We are not at all interested in data collection or data sharing. On the other hand, you may share any info that you want to in order to reach out to other artists or visitors who frequent this website. You are also free to post info that allows prospective clients to reach out to you. What you include in this contact info is entirely up to you.
If you sign up as a Skillful Artists Member for $9.95 a month, you give your credit card data to PayPal only. We never see that information nor would PayPal share that with us. We only see your name, email address and that you paid $9.95 to join the Membership Group.
If you send us images to upload to this website, we only include the information that you want posted with the image, such as your name (or nickname) and how people can contact you if they want to buy your artwork.
If you send an image just for viewers’ enjoyment, no contact information needs to be included with the picture. However, you can include the name of the artwork, the medium it was created with and any info about the artwork itself.
When you contact us through the Contact Form on the Contact Us page, we receive an email in our inbox that includes your message and your email. We only receive the info you put into the Contact Form.
If you visit our login page, the program may set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
How we protect your data
This site has a current SSL certificate which makes this site secure. If you look up into the address bar, you will see the padlock immediately to the left of the address of this page.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as videos. Embedded content behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the website where the embedded video resides, such as on YouTube.
Who we share your data with
Nobody. Ever. We are not in the data-sharing business.
If another artist wants to get in touch with you and you have not publicly left your contact information, we will reach out to you to let you know that someone wants to converse with you. Then it will be your decision as to whether you want to give any contact info or not.
How long we retain your data
Optional: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our website to join the Skillful Artists Membership Group, the administrator sees the personal information you provided in your user profile, NOT your credit card information. The membership list is NOT public and is seen only by the website administrator, which is Elaine Foster.
On your own private Membership Account page, you can see, edit, or delete your personal information at any time (except you cannot change your username). The website administrator can also see and edit that information, if the need arises.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive a copy of the personal info we have about you, which is the data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data you have given us. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative purposes but we can store that in a separate place on your request if you leave the Membership Group.
Where we send your comments
Visitors’ comments to a post may be checked through an automated spam detection service. This is accomplished with a simple WordPress plugin called Akismet, which is used on virtually every WordPress site to detect spam.
While in the Membership Group, you are free to include any contact or background information you choose. You may want to describe your art experiences in order to attract clients who like your work and want to learn more about you or hire you for commission work. Giving out this sort of contact and background information is entirely optional and completely within your power to include or not include.
